Meet Our Team

Al Reeder, CEO

Al founded CSIA in 1972, serving for many years as its President and most recently CEO.  Al began his insurance career after returning from a tour of duty in Vietnam and obtaining a business degree from Los Angeles Harbor College.  Premium volume of CSIA has grown from $750,000 in 1972 to over $30,000,000 today.


From the beginning, he has had a very special interest in the insurance needs of the real estate investment community. 


This began with his involvement helping members of the mobilehome industry with managing the risks of operating their businesses.  Many of his mobilehome park clients are also involved in other types of real estate investments.  From mobilehome parks, Al has developed expertise providing insurance services for shopping centers, industrial parks, and office complexes.  


On the insurance industry side, Al has served as a member of the prestigious President’s Council of a large national multi-line insurer.  He has also served in the same capacity for a specialty mobilehome industry insurer.  In 1995, Al qualified as a Certified-Insurance-Counselor (CIC), after completing five rigorous courses of study and testing.


On the personal side, Al lives in San Clemente, California, with his wife Diane.  He enjoys spending time with family, traveling in his motor coach, working out in the gym, hiking, and cycling.

Bill Joseph, President

Bill Joseph began his insurance career with CSIA in 1981 after graduating from San Diego State University.


In 1984 Bill moved to San Jose, California to establish the Northern California branch of CSIA. Under his leadership the premium volume for the Northern California office has grown to over 4,500,000.


From the beginning, he has focused on the insurance needs of the Manufactured Housing Industry. Bill was promoted to President of CSIA in 2014 and now splits time handling his new duties at CSIA’s corporate office and servicing the insurance needs of his Northern California clients.


Bill qualified as a Certified-Insurance-Counselor-(CIC), in 1995 after completing five rigorous courses of study and testing.

Sarah Mathis, Vice President, COO 

Sarah Mathis joined California Southwestern Insurance Agency in 1979. Since joining CSIA, Sarah has served a critical role in the agency’s growth. She has served in several capacities and is currently Vice President and Chief Operations Officer.


One of her most imporatnt duties is overseeing CSIA’s book of mobile home park business. She uses her expertise in the mobile home park industry to assist producers and account managers with market selection for individual mobile home parks.

Randy Jones, Senior V.P.

Randy started his insurance career in 1973. Al Reeder, the current President of CA Southwestern Insurance, invited him to interview with the company in a trainee position. He was first introduced to selling and issuing mobile homeowners and motorcycle insurance after completing his exams for licensing in property and life.


Soon after that he was selling and servicing commercial insurance to motorcycle dealerships throughout California. When business owners insurance packages started to take off, he was active in producing main street business for the beverage industry. He was also active in the Industry’s Trade Associations.


Randy currently spends his time writing insurance for the Grocery/Liquor retailers, Day Spa and Salon owners, Restaurants and Fast Food and all lines of personal insurance. Randy lives in Orange County, CA.

Greg Barber, Vice President

Greg joined CSIA back in 1993 after a successful career in commercial real estate specializing in the sale of mobile home parks. He applied his extensive sales experience and genuine care for his clients to become one of the top agent in the agency.

From commercial insurance to personal lines, Greg has the skill and knowledge to make sure you have the coverage you need.


To better serve his clients he earned his Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), designation in 2008.


Greg lives in Ladera Ranch with his wife and teenage son. The family enjoys golf, mountain biking and snow skiing.

Melissa Kane, CFO

Melissa Kane has been on the CSIA team for 18 years and has over 20 years' experience in the insurance industry. She holds a license in Property and Casualty and earned her CISR designation from the National Alliance in 2001.


In 2004 she transferred into the accounting department and was promoted to CFO in 2012.


Melissa and her husband have one daughter and one son. In her spare time you can find her attending swim meets or baseball games for her children.

Larry Reeder, Vice President

Larry Reeder began his career at California Southwestern in 1999. Larry has worked his way up from File Clerk to Manager of the Manufactured Home Insurance Department.


He has over 15 years of experience insuring manufactured homes and in the manufactured housing industry. Larry is an important part of our Mobile Home Park Team as he assists park owners with securing insurance for residents that are in need of coverage.


Many of the large manufactured home dealers in California use Larry Reeder’s services to secure insurance for homes they have sold as well.

Josh Woods, New Business Development

Josh Woods started working for California Southwestern Insurance Agency in 2011. During his time at CSIA he has worked in a number of different positions in order to learn the insurance business from the ground up.


He started out in the Mobile Home Department as an Account Manager where he became one of the top account managers in just 2 years. His insurance knowledge and superior customer care got him promoted to a New Business Development in the commercial lines department.


While working as the New Business Developer, Josh has gained siginficant knowledge in the marketing and underwriting of insurance for mobile home parks and many other commercial real estate risks.

Darren Clayton, Account Executive

Darren joined California Southwestern Insurance Agency in 2004, as an Account Executive, in both personal and commercial lines insurance. Specifically, Darren specializes in the handling of “high-risk” and “hard-to-place” accounts. He has extensive experience assisting with the insurance needs of technology and telecommunications companies, building owners, contractors, “start-up” businesses, “high-risk” drivers, and numerous additional markets. Darren also serves as our resident life insurance expert, with direct-access to many different life insurance carriers.
