Al Reeder and his mentor, John W. Maynard, founded California Southwestern Insurance Agency (CSIA) in 1972 to serve the niche personal and business insurance needs of Californians.
Today its insurance services are available throughout California from their corporate offices in Lake Forest, California, and branch offices located in San Jose and the Temecula Valley.

Al Reeder
President & CEO
Al Reeder, CSIA President & CEOAl founded CSIA in 1972 at the tender age of 24. The organization has been under his executive supervision from the beginning. Al began his insurance career after returning from a tour of duty in Vietnam and obtaining a business degree from Los Angeles Harbor College. Under his leadership the premium volume of CSIA has grown from $750,000 in 1972 to over $30,000,000 today.
From the beginning, he has had a very special interest in the insurance needs of the mobile home industry. Under his direction, CSIA has become a recognized leader in this field. He has been privileged to serve in a number of committee capacities for Western Mobilehome Park owners Association, such as insurance, membership recruitment, and small parks. Al has also served on the local unit level in many capacities including unit president. On the insurance industry side, Al has served as member of the prestigious President's Council of a large national multi-line insurer. He has also served in the same capacity for a specialty mobile home industry insurer. In 1995, Al qualified as a Certified-Insurance-Counselor (CIC), after completing five rigorous courses of study and testing.

On the personal side, Al lives with his wife, Cathy, and stepdaughter, Tori, in San Clemente, California. His son Larry joined CSIA in 1999 to assist with the marketing and service of private passenger automobile insurance.


Randy Jones

Randy began his insurance career with CSIA in 1973. He started out in the motorcycle and mobile home insurance areas of the business.
He now divides his time between both commercial insurance and personal insurance.

Randy lives in Orange County, California.   


Larry Staggs
Executive Vice-President 

Larry Staggs, CSIA Executive Vice PresidentLarry has over 30 years of experience in the insurance business. Most of this experience has been with CSIA, having joined the organization in 1976.

Larry has been personally responsible for directly administering many of the successes of our personal insurance department. Under Larry's able leadership, CSIA has been a leader in providing insurance services to mobilehome residents for all of the 30 years he has been associated with CSIA. Additionally, more recently, he has been responsible for making CSIA a leader in providing insurance services for the automobiles and homes of thousands of Californians.

On the personal side, Larry is a family man with a wonderful wife and two beautiful daughters. His main hobby is playing golf. He is always striving to reduce his golf handicap, which now is about eight.


Bill Joseph
Vice-President

Bill began his insurance career with CSIA back in 1981 after obtaining a degree in political science at San Diego State University. In 1995 Bill joined an elite group of insurance professionals by qualifying as a Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), after completing what is considered a rigorous course of insurance study and testing.

Bill Joseph, CSIA Vice PresidentHis chief responsibility is marketing and service functions to our Northern California clientele from our office in San Jose California. Under Bills able leadership our San Jose office has grown to over $5,000,000 of annual insurance premium volume.
Following the lead of Al Reeder the President & CEO of CSIA over the years Bill has developed a special interest and expertise in the insurance needs of the real estate investment community. This began with assisting owners of Manufactured Home Communities with their insurance needs. Over the years Bill has developed additional expertise in providing insurance services for owners of Apartment Buildings, Office Buildings, Shopping Centers, and RV Parks.
Bill has had the privilege as serving as a seminar speaker for the Western Manufactured Housing Communities Association (WMA) at their local units meetings and educational seminars.
Bill has also gained further knowledge of the Manufactured Housing Industry through is ownership and management of four Manufactured Home Communities located in Northern California.

On a personal note Bill resides with his wife Judy in San Jose. In his spare time he enjoys training in the martial arts.


Sarah Mathis
Office Manager
Sarah Mathis, CSIA Office ManagerSarah joined CSIA in 1978 as a receptionist. By virtue of insurance education, hard work, and dependability, Sarah became an integral part of CSIA, assisting with an important segment of our commercial insurance clientele.
In 1994, upon completing the necessary course of study and testing, she was recognized with the professional designation of a Certified-Insurance-Service-Representative (CISR). Sarah became the administrative manager of our commercial lines operations and corporate secretary in 1994. Her responsibilities include supervision of our commercial lines department, Human Resources, and assistant to President and CEO, Al Reeder.
